The Easiest Way to Decorate a Chocolate Drip Cake

The Drip Cake craze shows no signs of slowing down. These luscious cakes feature enticing drips of chocolate ganache on the sides and are often topped with a profusion of candies or fruit.

Were we excited when we ordered the Cake Drip from Roxy & Rich. This would make all the difficulties of tweaking the amount of whip cream to the actual cocoa content in your chocolate ganache is a thing of the past.

When we tested the product out it compared well to a regular chocolate ganache. The overall consistency is a little less creamy and the chocolate taste has a hint of maple but it isn’t overpowering, it is is still a pleasant, rich tasting flavor.

The ease of use is what really sold us. We microwaved the bottle for 30 seconds (with-out the lid) and then shook the bottle (with the lid back on) for a minute. We tested it on a buttercreme cake tier and it was easy to use and dripped perfectly. We popped the cake into the fridge for 15 minutes or so and the drips had set up perfectly. We were pleasantly surprise by how little of the bottle we used. Our demo cake was an 8” round tier by 7” tall and after doing both the drips on the side and covering top we used only ½ of the bottle.

Cake Drip Instructions:

• Frost your cake and refrigerate for approximately1 hour. 
• To apply Roxy & Rich’s Cake Drip, remove the top and the lid. Heat for 30 seconds in the microwave.
• Put the lid back on and shake until smooth, approx. 1 minute. 
• Open the spout and pour onto the cake in circular motions, from the center to the outside.
• Once the top of the cake is completely covered, decorate the sides by forming drips down the cake. Point the tip toward the edge and press gently on the bottle to let the chocolate drip down the cake. You can also use an icing spatula to smooth the chocolate over the top of the cake and make any excess chocolate drip down the sides.  (Please note: We did ours the other way and did a ridge of chocolate at the edge and then the drips and then did the poured more cake drip  on the top of the cake and used a spatula to spread the cake drip to meet the ridge at the edge of the cake. Jayden says she finds she has more control that way)
• Once the topping is complete, let your creation sit in the fridge around an hour for the chocolate drip to harden.
